Toyota Remains Number 1 Brand in America

2014 Toyota Camry is best-selling car in America; Toyota is #1 Brand in AmericaToyota showed once again why it remains the most successful brand in America, reporting a December 2013 sales result of 190,843 units for an increase of 2.2% over December of last year on a daily selling rate (DSR) basis. This added up to annual sales of 2,236,042 vehicles for a 7.4% increase over 2012 on both a DSR and raw-volume basis, consolidating Toyota as America’s no. 1 retail brand in 2013.

Towering above not only Toyota’s lineup but the entire automobile market was the Toyota Camry, which ended the year as the best-selling car in America for the 12th consecutive year. This is a feat that can only be compared to Toyota’s ridiculously impressive performance in the world of hybrid cars, with the Prius family helping Toyota’s hybrid lineup to retain an incredible 60% of the entire hybrid market share as well as set a new all-time sales record in 2013.

If you’re interested in checking out one of these cars or, heck, Toyota’s entire lineup, just stop by Don Moore Toyota.

1996 Maxima on Craigslist Bought by Nissan North America

1996 Maxima on CraigslistCraigslist is basically an online version of the classifieds section in the newspaper. You can find advertisements for just about anything. Well when you have so many ads out there and you’re planning to sell something there too, you just have to get a little creative! That’s exactly what the previous owner did as he created a video for his 1996 Maxima on Craigslist.

Watch the video below to see what made this used Nissan Maxima famous and caught the eye of Nissan North America employees. The ultra creative ad for the 1996 Maxima uses stunning effects, British voice-over, and modern car commercial appeal to promote the beaten up Maxima. For this special purchasing occasion, Nissan offered the seller $2,400 – $1,000 of which is to go towards the seller’s charity of choice.

“A number of people (at Nissan’s Nashville headquarters) want to get their hands on it,” said Dan Bedore, Nissan’s director of product communications. “It has an engine and four tires, what more do you need?”

Toyota Partners with BMW for Sports Car Platform

Toyota partners with BMWToyota really knows how to ring in the new year, as they made a shocking and market-altering announcement shortly after the calendar from 2013 to 2014: the Japanese car manufacturer, Toyota partners with BMW to create a joint sports car platform.

The project actually started a while ago, back in 2011, when the two companies made an agreement to research new technologies and products. In 2012, they began discussing the possibility of making a new midsize sports car platform together. Now, what began as an idea has blossomed into one of the most important auto stories of the young new year—as well as one of the most interesting to watch.

Of course, both manufacturers are suitably excited about the news. “We have agreed on a joint architecture for a sports car,” commented BMW’s Development Chief Herbert Diess. “What is important is that there will be two different vehicles that are authentic to the two brands.”

If you’re anything like us here at Don Moore Toyota, you’re giddy with excitement and anticipation for the future of this idea. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait a while to see the results of this announcement. Until then, though, there’s no harm in speculating. Let us know: what would you like to see in a new Toyota sports car?

Honda Debuts Next-Generation of HondaLink Infotainment

Honda is once again updating their HondaLink infotainment system, as the next-generation of the technology makes its debut in the 2014 Honda Civic. The next model to receive the upgrade will be the 2015 Honda Fit. The new system is actually a combination of Display Audio and HondaLink technology.

The Display Audio system functions through a 7-inch touchscreen that allows you to control the various audio systems in your vehicle. HondaLink brings the apps—such as the Connect, Navigation, Aha, and Launcher apps, all of which allow you to integrate your life seamlessly into the business of driving your car. HondaLink already syncs up with iPhones and Android connectivity is coming soon.

2014 Honda Civic - HondaLink Infotainment

“Display Audio and HondaLink are pioneering technologies that seamlessly and intuitively integrate the power and functionality of a customers’ smartphone directly into their vehicle,” Charles Koch, manager of new business development for American Honda, said. “Staying connected to the latest music, information, news, traffic updates, even friends and family, is a must-have capability for a new generation of car buyers.”

It’s a capability that’s only available through HondaLink and Display Audio, too, so come in to Don Moore Honda and check out the 2014 Civic today!

Toyota FCV Sedan to Unveil at 2014 Consumer Electronics Show

Toyota FCV Sedan concept

Toyota is set to prove that it knows just as much about hydrogen power as it does about hybrid technology at the upcoming 2014 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, where it will finally debut its long-awaited FCV sedan.

FCVs, which stands for fuel cell vehicle, are the closest thing humans have ever developed to an ultimate “eco-car,” offering solutions to energy and emissions issues. Powered by fuel cells that generate electricity from hydrogen, FCVs are not only environmentally-friendly but also highly energy-efficient, which makes them ideal for achieving sustainable mobility.

The new sedan’s exterior is evocative of the two major characteristics of FCVs: the transformation of air into water as the system generates electricity and the power acceleration that none other than an electric motor can deliver.

If you’re just as excited (and curious) as we are at Don Moore Toyota about what this new vehicle means for the future, be sure to tune in to the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show.
